Valentine’s Pregnancy Style: Red Midi Dress

Sharing some casual Valentine’s pregnancy style in a stretchy red midi dress; a little bit about how Brandon and I spent one of our last weekends together pre-baby; and how our Nala girl is showing her sense of humor while getting in on the baby-prep action… Read on for all the 38.5-week pregnancy details!

Styling The Bump

In the spirit of “Valentine’s week,” I thought I would share a little bump style in… drum roll… some color!  Because I am freakin’ pregnant as all get out (38 weeks and 3 days!), I decided to go for casual comfort this time around.  At this point sexy is hardly an option – or even mildly achievable, lol; and out of fear of toppling over my front-heavy self, pinstripes, a stretchy red midi dress (under $30!), and Chucks seemed like the right answer.  Thank goodness for the warm burst of weather we have had which made this little bare-legged Valentine’s look possible.  I typically don’t like to do my outfit shoots on my driveway, and especially a holiday-related look; but let’s face it – really pregnant times call for really desperate measures.

Time With My Loves

I wore this look for a casual Valentine’s dinner with Brandon for our “last supper” so to speak, ha ha.  We indulged in some spicy shrimp tacos I had been craving, which are not only one of my favorites, but we thought it may just help move baby along a bit.  Clearly we were wrong about that, but we definitely enjoyed our time together either way!  The weather was SO unseasonably nice, our Nala girl wanted to get in on the fun this time.  She is usually a bit camera shy, and although she kind of looks annoyed in her below cameo, she actually just strolled into the camera view, sat right down and stayed there for several shots, as if to say “me too mom,” ha ha.  Or she just wanted to show off her recent hair cut and Valentine’s bandana ;-).  She definitely knows something is up in the baby department, and she likes to take part in some thievery on a regular basis, which is actually kind of cute… for now, ha.  Just when we turn our backs she loves to sprint upstairs to the baby’s room and steal various toys and blankets, bring them downstairs and lay by them pouting. She never destroys anything but apparently enjoys making a statement.  Plus it makes us chuckle because she doesn’t exactly have a “runner’s build,” but when it comes to her baby-nursery-thievery she is like lightening.  Generally speaking, she has always been my little sidekick, but as of late she has been glued to my side even more and is very in tune to my belly.  I keep asking her when the baby is coming, as I think she has some inside scoop, but she hasn’t given up the deets yet ;-).

Pregnancy and Baby Prep Update

It is so crazy that this could be the last of my “real-time” bump style shots and pregnancy updates!  If you caught my previous blog post, you might recall that if I do not go into labor this week on my own, my doctor is going to induce me early next week!  I am having frequent contractions and the baby feels very low, but clearly our bundle hasn’t decided it is time yet.  It is so ironic that I was on bedrest for pre-term labor issues for eight weeks, and now we are looking at induction of labor… go figure, right?  Lord help me if this is any sign of the strong-willed child to come, lol.  I would of course prefer to go into labor naturally, but no matter how it happens, I can hardly believe that we are down to single digit days as we await the arrival of our little one.  In fact, we spent the weekend finishing up some projects, tying up loose ends, and organizing – like CRAZY nesting lunatics – and we are feeling ready to get this show on the road!

As always, I hope you enjoyed this post!  I would love to hear from you ~ please leave a comment below!  Also, feel free to scroll down for outfit details, links, and sizing info.

Wishing you a blessed day,

First, you look fantastic! Second, this is definitely unsolicited advice. It we took a special blanket to the hospital and wrapped the baby in it. Then Matt took it home and put it in the dog bed. That way Dudley was familiar with the smell of the baby when we brought him home. And Dudley was definitely protective of his baby. Haha!
